Unable to create view with filter on promotional items

Describe your bug or feature request.

The promotional item cannot be used to filter on in a product / product variation view in D10.

Not a bug, the steps to reproduce.

Create a product variation view referenced to products.
Add some products and the price (with a "price different formatter" selected in "manage display").

Create an offer or discount in a data range which will show correctly on the products.
Now try to filter on products which are on offer to show only those products which are within the date range, this is however not possible. However, there is no any method to bring a promotional field into the product variation view to filter on. The only existing option is "enable/disable" when a reference is made via "Store" and "Promotions" in "Advanced Relationship".

Solution proposed.

A method to filter on promotional conditions.
- which promo name to filter on
- which promo type to filter on
- a method to automatically show and hide products based on start / end dates of the promo itself via "current date is within start/end data".

Additional info

Creating a product variation view with a reference to promotional items worked on D9 only after adding one extra field (via composer, a promotional view field). However in D10 this no longer works. The promo and products belong together, so I think it should work together.
