Using multiple "Link Types" in one site

Is it possible to use the "AJAX link" link type in some cases like views page and then in other views or on the flaggable nodes page use the "field Entry form" link type?

The motivation is that I am storing additional field data on the flag. So if a user clicks the Ajax link on a flag that they already stored other data on, poof it's gone with no confirmation and they lose all the other data entered on that flag. Yet adding flags is way faster with the AJAX link. r maybe there is logic have a different link type depending on the action. Like adding a flag you could pick one type but to remove a flag you use a different type.

Curious to know what is currently possible and what could be implemented with my own helper module or updates to flag.
