one field with a entity reference, several steps with different form display modes

Problem/Motivation

When using an entity form, when it is necessary to fill out an entity with an entity nested in it, I want to fill out the fields of the nested entities at different steps. It looks like this is not possible now. It would be nice if this functionality could be used

Steps to reproduce

Create a group of fields for the step to place a nested entity field there with form display mode No. 1, then create the next group of fields for the next step with the same field, but form display mode No. 2.
