Trouble adding a Views Block Paragraph type that has a Contextual Filter

Created on 11 June 2024, 17 days ago

First off, I am so excited to finally use this module on a very large government site. I've been following this project for a long time and I'm glad that I can actually use it.

So, one of the issues I am having, and this is not necessarily a "bug" with Mercury Editor, is the fact that if I am using the Block Field module (8.x-1.0-rc4 on D10) to allow a Paragraph type to place a Drupal block. That in and of itself works great, BUT if the block happens to be a Views Block that has a contextual filter, the block does not show up in the Mercury Editor preview pane. It's just blank. If I save the node and go to the actual front end page, the Views Block shows up correctly, because the contextual filter is now there. This is all to be expected and makes total sense as to WHY that is happening. I'm just wondering if there is a way you can think of to either A) Make sure that the preview pane can render the Views Block if the contextual filter currently exists on the saved node or maybe B) Come up with a way to display some kind of "placeholder" text/image for the Views Block that cannot render because of the contextual filter. I know this is kind of an edge case, but was wondering if you have run into this issue with any of your projects that use Mercury Editor.

THANKS!!
