My team and I will be looking into this and what it might entail.
Some disabled form fields do not save correctly. They save as empty. Have found that Date and File field types when disabled save empty. We don't want them to save empty, we just dont want certain users to change what is there.
We have an ECA model that disables most fields in a specific situation. If the user within that situation saves the node or another ECA model saves the node, then date and file field types end up being saved blank.
I posted in the Drupal #support channel and someone mentioned that readonly might be another option that could be used instead? Disabled form fields are often not submitted with the form sounds like?
