Firstly, thanks for taking to time to write and contribute this module :-)
Connection settings can only be applied via settings.php. It would be great to use this module with configured settings that can be passed programmatically to the client.
Also phpseclib3 is more up to date.
Have a new method on the interface and class to support setting the connection details directly.
Review and test patch. Apply patch.
New setSftpClientConnectionSettings methods.
