Hi I came across this module page and It struck me that we may be trying to do similar things. We are working with The National Archives in UK to ensure that local history/important website resources WILL be available for future generations and in decades to come (including sources/external links)
We have worked with the module developer for

to complete it and an example can be seen at the test site here weblink
But it would be good to see if we could do more to highlight visually if an old link no longer works and point people to the archive.org version
