Whatcms.org screenshot blocked

Created on 4 March 2024, 4 months ago

Problem/Motivation

Whatcms.org, one of the popular research tools to figure out with which technology a website was built, shows a summary page for each CMS including a screenshot of the official CMS website, unfortunately for Drupal.org we see a blocked screen:

Also see here https://whatcms.org/c/Drupal

Steps to reproduce

- Just open https://whatcms.org/c/Drupal
- Check the screenshot

Proposed resolution

Probably whatcms was recognized as a bot and gets blocked by the web application firewall, to resolve this and to get a beautiful and user friendly screenshot of drupal.org, it could be as easy as allowing them to access the website.

Remaining tasks

Allow whatcms to take screenshots of the site.

Is there any information about what they use to get screenshots? Server IP addresses? User agent used for requests? A 3rd-party service that might have documentation?

We need something to be able to find what their requests might look like.
