Adhoc Field Empty value not Triggering Email Notification

Problem/Motivation

When configuring the Content Moderation Notification module, I've noticed that email notifications are only triggered when a value is provided in the adhoc field. If the adhoc field is left blank, no notification email is sent out, even when all other conditions for triggering the notification are met.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install and enable the Content Moderation Notification module.
  2. Configure the module to send email notifications based on specific conditions (e.g., content moderation state transitions).
  3. Create a content moderation workflow with email notifications configured.
  4. Ensure that all conditions for triggering the notification are met, except for the adhoc field.
  5. Leave the adhoc field blank and transition the content through the workflow.

Proposed resolution

Investigate the code responsible for handling email notifications in the Content Moderation Notification module and identify any conditions or logic related to the adhoc field that may be causing this issue. Implement a fix to ensure that email notifications are triggered regardless of the adhoc field value.

    Hi,

    A gentle reminder about the issue I reported regarding the Content Moderation Notification module. It's been a month since I initially reached out, and unfortunately, there hasn't been any response yet.

    We've upgraded to the latest version of the Content Moderation Notification module, but the email notifications still aren't triggering, even with an email ID in the adhoc field.

    Any help on this would be great.

    If selected "Email the author?" option or/and unchecked "Disable the site email address" I received email notification about transition.
    So I can not reproduce current issue on 8.x-3.5 version or later.
    Could you please add more information or close the issue.
