I suggest that you use
ref: maininstead ofref: $_GITLAB_TEMPLATES_REF, at least for now, to get this feature."main" will always have the latest, $_GITLAB_TEMPLATES_REF will have the recommended tag for all contrib, but we update the latter less regularly, to be able to try latest additions without affecting all of contrib.
