Parent field on node and child field on paragraph (etc.)

Problem/Motivation

It would be extremely powerful to be able to create parent / child dependency across the node > paragraph relationship. That way, when building a node that has paragraph fields, a paragraph's select field options can be predetermined by its parent node value of the parent select field.

Is that something that has been considered? I'd be interested in helping with planning, technical, testing, or documentation contribution.
