The module need a user interface to configure which entity types should display the "Translate side by side" operation link. This will allow administrators to selectively enable or disable the translation operation for specific entity types.
As a suggestion for the implementation of such a user interface, a GUI element for selecting entity types can be found in the Search API module.
When editing an index, we have the option of selecting a datasource (in our case, this would be the entity type). We can then select the desired bundle in the "Configure the Content datasource" section. We also have the option of setting how the bundles are to be indexed: Only the selected ones or all those that are not selected (take note of the screenshot).
We should take a closer look at the GUI element and decide whether we should develop the selection of entity types in this direction.
It would also be useful to make the currently hard-coded blacklist configurable. This would allow administrators to customize which fields should be excluded from processing in the Entity Translate Side by Side module.
The configuration of the blacklist could be part of the entity type configuration.
How this works in detail still needs to be worked out.
