What would cause an Invitee to be "Anonymous (not verified)"?

I am having an issue where in some groups, the pending invites I am seeing is showing the Invitee as "Anonymous (not verified)".

That is an issue because nobody can even create or view a group unless they are logged in (Authenticated). The group "manager" role are the only roles allowed to invite to their group. And again, they have to be Authenticated to even view/create ANY group.

I am having a hard time replicating this. If I send an invite it shows my username. I am currently using 3.0.0-beta4 and Group 2.2.1
