I would like to make some groups 'joinable' and 'leavable' for users, some not: in those cases, a site admin does the group management.
How to achieve this? I could not find it in the documentation.
Based on my current knowledge - I am new to the great module - I should create two 'Group types', e.g. "joinable team" and "non-joinable team" and set the permissions accordingly. Am I correct?
The (big) disadvantage is that I end up with 2 entity types.

This is not out of the box feature. You have multiple options:
- Create the settings and PermissionCalculators yourself.
- Use
group_permissions_template →
module (works perfectly for your simple use case)
- Use
group_permissions_parameter →
module (Use for complex use cases e.g. having conditional permissions overrides)
