Package Name Should be like: "Migration" or "Other"
- 🇺🇸United States mlncn Minneapolis, MN, USA
Are package names required? Is there updated guidance?
Here is what some prestigious Drupal scribe (OK, me) wrote about the
package
specification for the (then) module .info files in the Definitive Guide to Drupal 7:Another optional directive is package, which is used to group modules on the Modules administration
page (admin/modules). If you don’t know what to put as your module’s package, you are encouraged to
skip it entirely. Leaving package out will group your module in the “Other” category. If your module
belongs with a group of modules, you can place it with them by using the same package.■ Note The best approach to grouping modules with the package directive is not a settled matter in Drupal. Keep
an eye on the handbook page ( https://drupal.org/node/542202#package ) for updates to policy and the other eye on the
package wiki page ( https://groups.drupal.org/node/97054 ) for the choices module maintainers are making. As noted,
when in doubt, leave it out. - 🇺🇸United States mlncn Minneapolis, MN, USA
There appears to be no further guidance in modern Drupal (8, 9, 10+) - https://www.drupal.org/node/2000204#hello_world → - and package remains optional.
And there has not been more contributions to or a successor to the wiki page i started thirteen years ago, Package names for contributed modules (Drupal 7).
I'd love to be proven wrong but it's a shame there isn't more guidance.
All that said Migration sounds right but for any proposed package names link to a few other peer modules, thanks!
Otherwise the unspecified default of Other is fine.
