Maximising the space for previews

The three buttons at the top of the preview page are certainly very useful to site builders; useful in that a 'site builder' will almost certainly be interested in examining the teaser and maybe (?) the full screen but what about other display modes and what if they have no interest in any variations other than the Full node?

Other display modes

If you are going to provide 'Teaser' then why limit the content editor to only that one; why not a drop down menu for (as examples) 'Social media', 'Shopping basket', and other defined display modes - technically this would be an easy-to-do and very powerful addition.

I suspect that the many content editors may not be that interested in any of the above and will thank us for using as much screen space as possible for their preview of the full view.

Options

What I suggest is some kind of additional setting that enables us to control the visibility of the button area.

Possible options might be:

1. A per-content-type checkbox: "Show|hide the 'view mode' buttons.
2. A simple, across-the-board, permission "Show|hide the 'view mode' buttons"
