Hmm, sounds a bug or regression. AFAIK, it was already like what you want.

Also try playing around with Enable both mobile and desktop option for just in case we are not on the same page. That is what I normally use lately.

Thanks. It is on custom theme, several websites, no other JavaScript in hooked to the caret. The option "Enable off-canvas for both mobile and desktop." doesn't have any effect.

The best way to verify the issue is to switch to Olivero or Bartik for a mo in a dummy/ staging site.

Follow the direction on the form items to provide the relevant selectors based on each theme.

No need to touch anything at code level, except assigning relevant blocks to the correct regions as directed.

Then we can be sure it is an issue if core themes behave the same like your custom themes.

2.x was retired.
3.x was out with some mobile fixes.
