Module not creating webp files

Problem/Motivation

the module is skipping the files when using the generator for images

Steps to reproduce

create a content type with an image field
set the image field to supprot webp
add a new node with a jpeg image
go to the generation page
run generator for the field type
image gets skipped, nothing is generated, no error is returned
