Subtheme location

Problem/Motivation

Does the "subtheme" folder created within the Barrio theme folder created with composer ( in the contrib folder) have to be moved out of the Barrio folder to work as expected?
Wondering if the "subtheme" folder gets overwritten when the Barrio theme gets updated. Drupal newbie q.

A "subtheme" folder is proving by Barrio theme but do not work directly in default "subtheme" folder. Follow the method from " Create a Bootstrap Barrio Sub-Theme → " which is described on main page of barrio theme.
