alias becomes node/xx when shared on mobile

Created on 19 September 2023, 10 months ago

Dear all, I run into a strange issue:

When I want to share a url from a Drupal site, I tend to do this on my desktop, either scrape the url from the url bar and paste that or press the share button. The url that goes into the email/text/note/tweet I create is then the url alias, just as I want it to be.

On a mobile phone however, when I use the share button, the url that comes out is https://xxx.xx/node/xx. I ran a few tests, this happens on Safari and Chrome mobile, on both iPhone and Android (but not on Firefox Focus mobile when you use "share page with" from the menu).

As a result lots of ugly node/xxx links get shared rather than the well crafted url aliases? Anyone any idea what could be done about this? I assume this mobile browsers somehow don't respect the alias code as it stands?

Xander

Apologues for assuming a bug in the module or browsers..

I've solved the issue by making sure meta tag sets the canonical url to the alias..

Why didn't I think of that before..
