Entity Reference Revision Translated Content fallback to Default language when unchecking the unsupported field in Content Language and Translation

Created on 14 September 2023, 9 months ago

Problem/Motivation

We are using Content Moderation and Content Translation modules on our site. We had wrongly unchecked the entity reference revision fields in the Content Language and Translation configuration page.

For eg, We have a basic page, entity reference revision field is mapped in this content type. All the paragraphs are mapped with this revision. This field translation is enabled on the Content Language and Translation Configuration page.

We have created a new basic page with a paragraph component (Accordion list- Two Accordion List Items were added) in the Default language (EN) and also created a Translated version(ES). and then we unchecked the entity reference revision (* unsupported field) in the Content Language and Translation configuration page because we added the third Accordion List Item in the Default Language, but it was not displayed in ES translation.

Then the ES Translation is reverted back to English.

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a Paragraph (Entity Reference Revision Field) in any content type.
2. Check Translation for this field in Content language and translation.
3. Create an EN and ES version of Content with paragraph component (Accordion list - Two Accordion List Items were added).
4. Uncheck Translation for this field in Content Language and Translation.
5. ES Translation is changed to Default language(EN) for Accordion List.

Proposed resolution

Is this possible to prevent data loss in Tranlsated content?
