Drupal 7 Backups Cease after Host Account Upgrade

Problem/Motivation

About 2 months ago, our account at Brown Rice Internet was upgraded to a type that only allows SFTP
Around then, the backups started failing
The Recent Log Messages shows a Warning, Page Not Found:
Location https://test.mtryrapecrisis.org/favicon.ico
Referrer https://test.mtryrapecrisis.org/admin/config/system/backup_migrate/backups
Message favicon.ico
But favicon.ico is not a page - it is an image

The web site is Drupal 7, and we are using Php 7.4

Steps to reproduce

Try to do a manual backup, and you get a blank screen
The Recent Log Messages shows the above, for the first try
We have an offsite destination that is an FTP one - even if you do NOT use this destination, the backup fails

Proposed resolution

Tried uninstalling Backup and Migrate, reinstalling it, and redoing the configurations
Still cannot backup

Remaining tasks

Tried installing Backup and Migrate SFTP, but the directions are not working

You will also get the favicon.ico message on Drupal sites without the BAM module and even on non-Drupal sites (in my experience), so I consider it unlikely that this has anything to do with your problem. You are correct in stating that the favicon.ico file is a resource/asset, not a page, but if that is a bug, it is a bug against Drupal core, not BAM.

Thanks for checking the log though, that is always useful.

If you use a different destination and remove the FTP destination for now (make a backup of your settings first), do you still get the blank screen?

    BrankoC:

Yes, I tried different destinations, even creating a new one.
All give me the blank screen when I click "Backup now".

In addition, I noticed that the Offsite Destinations have disappeared - maybe because FTP was being used.

It's a big problem not having reliable and secure, regular backups.
I wish there was another module that did that.
Backup and Migrate has given me problems ever since I installed it years ago.

    Any ideas?

I just realised that since it doesn't matter which destination you use, the switch to SFTP may not be the culprit.

I currently have no way to test against PHP 7.4, so hopefully somebody else can look into this.
