Use webform custom handler with Mailing List

Greetings,

I do not wish to use the Mailing List block since customizing it with Layout Builder does not work for me. I've tried setting it to use layout builder and then customizing the layout but then the actual block retains its default layout defined by its fields.

Eitherway I already have a custom webform for subscription which is live on my site and I intend to use that.

I've created a custom handler for my webforms that I am hoping to use with mailing list. I am aware of the module_invoke() and module_load_include() functions that can help me do what I want to do. However, when I look under the Mailing List module I cannot find any hooks that can be used to add an email to my list. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
