Hello! Unfortunately, while this feature is on the roadmap, it isn't available in Year Only right now. I can't currently provide a timeline for implementation.
As an alternative, this is possible in the very similar module Year → (which I also maintain). Just note that Year will eventually be deprecated in favor of Year Only once feature parity is achieved. A migration path will be provided.

Yes it is possible to have a 'Custom' option which would then show a new field to capture a custom year, which is then validated to be greater than the 'From' year.

Possible, yes. Currently supported, no.
The eventual implementation of this feature will mirror Year → 's, so I don't really recommend the solution in #3. Use at your own risk.

As I indicated in #4, we'll be supporting this request with the approach detailed in ✨ Allow flexible "from" and "to" (min/max) year ranges Needs work .
