When using the gin theme in dark mode, the jstree UI looks bad. See the screenshot → .
Install media_directories_ui and use gin (with dark mode enabled) as admin theme,
head over to /admin/content/browser.
Add styles for specific themes, maybe only for gin, that support darkmode.
I do not know about a core theme, that offers a dark mode (yet).
I found this module inverting colors

, but it seems never to came alive ...
List other admin themes that support dark mode.
Depending on the theme we need to override jstree background, font and highlight colors.
For gin, we could reuse it's --vars and defined highlight color.

Definitely the way to go IMO.
