Migration results in cannot change the field type for an existing field storage

Problem/Motivation

After performing Video Embed Media migration, I receive the following error:

The import failed due to the following reasons:
Unexpected error during import with operation update for field.storage.media.field_media_video_embed_field: Cannot change the field type for an existing field storage. The field storage media.field_media_video_embed_field has the type video_embed_field.
