Pathauto alias' not updating. Drupal 9 - Solution

Problem/Motivation

So I am using the latest Drupal 9.5.10 with Path auto

Steps to reproduce

I used Devel to generate "Article" content. Very basic

Proposed resolution

So for the test with path auto pattern replacement- I used token - /article/[node:title]

Remaining tasks

The only way urls were updated was to use the bulk "update URL alias" under "admin/content"
Nothing seemed to work with the UI under path auto.
