Sorry this went unanswered; this is still the best option out there, will be looking to land a full release this summer.
I found a recent post similar to my question, but I did not want to hijack that thread as I have some more specific questions. ( https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_recurring/issues/3328651 π¬ is this module being used in production? Active ).
I am not much of a programmer, and have had "hobby" sites built with Drupal since version 5, so I have a lot of experience overall with Drupal with standard module installs, required patches, etc. Beyond that I will struggle.
I am currently migrating my site from 7 to 10 with a complete rewrite, and I want to have recurring subscription options to pot some specific node types. My site is a very small niche, and I don't expect more than 300 subscriptions, and it very well could be 100 or less. My plan is to allow a specific role be able to post nodes, and all views are setup to not show these nodes if the author does not have this role.
Because of the low amount of subscriptions AND my only basic programming knowledge, is trying to get this module up and running the best way forward, or should I just find a way to manually handle the payments and manage the roles? It looks like authorize.net and maybe paypal have options for recurring billing, but they are not tied onto these modules so it'd be manual, which I am ok with. I just haven't used any so I really don't know much, and installing Commerce Recurring Framework sacres me a bit as it looks like it cannot be removed easily (an I do remember running into this issue in a test site a few years ago, and had to roll back to an older backup before installation).
Any input from anyone with experience would really be appreciated, since this is the first for me diving into something like this and I have zero experience. Thank you!
