There is no big change since 2.6, maybe 2.6 will be the final version of Field validation Drupal7.
The devel version almost the same as 2.6, I only commit about 6 small changes.
Unfortunately, I don't remember why, but I have the dev version in use, something was not right in the final version. But now Drupal has sent me an update prompt to go back to 2.6, but so far it hasn't indicated.
