Numerous settings don't save - this is system-wide

I noted the failure of display settings to "stick" here:

But it's actually way worse than that. Changes to views aren't saving and, thinking that adding a second affiliate might have caused the problem, I tried to disable it.

The message says "Domain record has been disabled," but there's no change. AFAICT, changes may not be saving anywhere.

I've already rebuilt this entire site once to try to get Domain to work properly - clearly, something is very wrong and I'm going to stop right here until/unless I can get some assistance - for which I'm willing to pay.

(Actually, continued work would be pointless if settings don't save!)

I just updated core to 10.1.0 - no difference.

Marking this as major, although Critical would probably be more appropriate. Suggestions welcome... thanks!

I had my host check out the "save" issue and they were able to make changes; when I checked again, things seemed to be behaving normally, although block changes seemed not always to "stick."

I then had a real problem with CKEditor5 - all sorts of weird behavior like HTML in blocks disappearing upon save, which was truly odd. I disabled CKEditor and was able to save; I re-enabled it and now things now seem to be behaving.

I'll be digging in more after the holiday and adding more domains - getting there, let us hope.
