Errors accessing fields

after updating to D10 & D10.1 I'm seeing the following error on a number of sites using both the 4.0 and the 3.0 versions of the module
the errors also occurs on new installs

the error occurs when saving the filed value and trying to access fields on paragraph bundles

Drupal\Component\Plugin\Exception\PluginNotFoundException: The "" entity type does not exist. in Drupal\Core\Entity\EntityTypeManager->getDefinition() (Zeile 139 in /app/web/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Entity/EntityTypeManager.php).
