Token Argument Syntax

Are token arguments supported?

I have an entityreference field that should receive the value of another entityreference field as its argument. Both fields are based on taxonomy terms.

I've tried adding the referring field's token to the argument field in the receiving field's settings. I've tried:

[contact-message:field-referring]
[contact-message:field-referring:tid]
[contact-message:field-referring:entity]
[contact-message:field-referring:entity:tid]
[contact-message:field-referring:target-id]

None of these work. Has the syntax changed, or is this not supported in contact message forms?
