You're right, this is kind of a core bug. It's there for a very long time, and it won't be fixed in core in the near future, at least that's what it looks like. But, we should be able to handle this situation within our action. Created a possible fix for that in merge request 361, maybe you can try it out?

just tested MR361 and now it works, no more scrolling back to Ajax.
