payment_gateway_id and payment-gateways

Problem/Motivation

/jsonapi/payment-gateways does not return the payment_gateway_id that is used during checkout. The meta data "payment_options" has the payment_gateway_id but there is no way to correlate the two without some sort of identifier. Is this by design for some reason?

I realize now this is a bad idea. Sensitive information can be kept in the payment-gateways endpoint so using options on there own is the better way to go.
