File entity links migration feature

I am in the process of migrating a website that has file entities linked inside the body field of node pages in the format of file/number. I need to be able to convert file entity links into media entity links inside the body field.

This feature worked in the alpha9 version of the module. Now in the latest version it seems to have been scrapped. Im curious, if there is way to introduce this feature back to the module.
