Main Content Container Offcanvas at Mobile Width

Problem/Motivation

I think I might be missing something on the Subtheme settings page. By default, meaning I have made no changes to the theme, just setup a subtheme, my main content moves to off-canvas at the mobile screen width. (Screenshot attached).

Am I missing some theme setting?

To fix this issue, go to theme or subtheme settings, sidebar first layout - toggle to turn off sidebar collapse.

I know the designers did this for a reason, adding the offcanvas to the main content and not the sidebar. I am sure they use it in their builds, I would love to understand what that use case was if anyone knows.
