I am glad that someone already published this, it is true that using flex slider lowers the pagespeed score a lot. The issue is due to the execution and number of libraries such as css and js that it uses to work, functionally flexslider is the most complete module and adaptable to everything, but if you are interested in page speed at least for now it would be to look for an alternative

I had no problem getting flexslider to perform well even with video slides.
Can you share your site's URL with me so I can have a look ?@DrupalDope the module works well you should measure your speed in the pages where you use flexslider from this url https://pagespeed.web.dev there you will realize the fall or descent that you have when using and not using flexslider

maybe try to use the "Network" waterfall view in Chrome's dev tools so you can visualize what's happening ?
