Color scheme errors in "4.6. Configuring the Theme"

Problem/Motivation

The documentation states, "Under Olivero Utilities, you can choose to use a different color scheme for the theme. You can choose from a list of existing color schemeโ€™s, or enter a color and the core software will generate a new scheme based on that color." However, when I tried just now there was no way to "enter a color" and have the core software generate a new scheme based on that color. (See attached screenshot.)

I'm using a freshly-installed version of Drupal 9.5.5 that I installed on Pantheon.io two days ago. I'm working through the User Guide because I've decided to reacquaint myself with Drupal after a few years spent working on other things. Perhaps the color scheme options work differently in Drupal 10, and I'm just unaware of that difference. However, I thought I should report this.

Proposed resolution

The documentation should be updated to be consistent with the way the Olivero theme actually works.

Hey Sheldon, thanks for bringing this up.

Perhaps the color scheme options work differently in Drupal 10, and I'm just unaware of that difference.

This is the case. The color changing for the Olivero theme only works in Drupal 10. The currently published version of the User Guide assumes you're using the latest version of Drupal (Drupal 10) though maybe that needs to be made more explicit. And/or perhaps this is a case where the difference between the two versions should be called out. We generally try and avoid doing that in the User Guide since there could end up being a lot of those call outs though and it would end up kind of cluttering things up. At one point there was plans to provide a version switcher for the guide, but so far that's not materialized.
