Confusion on temp targets, blank sources, and tampers

I'd like to delete this but there doesn't seem to be a way. Let's just say that now I've messed around a bit I see that the documentation regarding tampers, temporary targets and blank sources is so misleading as to be useless, and there is no need in many cases to go through those steps for a simple tamper.
