how to use path alias as indicator

I installed the module via composer on Drupal 9+ and configured the filter as per the doc.
I enabled "Path Alias" and left the default indicator (nodetitle).
I tested it and it's working for nodetitle [[nodetitle:sometitle]] and node id [[node:123]] indicators but I'm not sure if and how it works for alias. Having found no mention in the documentation, I tried/guessing several scenarios and none worked. Would anyone please confirm it works for Path Alias and if I can use it the way I tried (i.e. input the alias as indicator instead of node title or node id).
