It does not create short URLs, just says No short URLs yet

I went to /shurly and entered a long URL and an optional custom short URL. Hit apply, the page refreshed and says "No short URLs yet!". the url changed to /shurly?source=&uid_1=. The mysql shurly table is empty. The Drupal page /myurls does not list any short urls?

I am using Drupal 9.5.3, PHP 8.0, shurly 8.x-1.0-beta2.
