D9 is now unsupported. Let's close this as Won't fix.
Initial work for D10 was committed to the 2.x branch before we created a new 3.x branch (since D8 support was dropped). That initial D10 work still exists on the 2.x branch so if we wanted to cut a new 2.x release, D8 support would be removed, which is not what we want.
Revert D10 changes on the 2.x branch so it can remain in a stable state (with D8 support) if any future changes need to be made there.
