Taking over the Annoucements project namespace

I'm interested in building an Announcements module for Drupal 10+. It would be ideal to use this project namespace for housing this module, if the team is open to that.

The module would provide an Announcement entity type, and leverage Drupal's condition plugins to control visibility of the announcements based on the user, page, and other conditions. Additionally announcements could be set to auto expire after a given time. The module would allow for multiple announcement types and provide Announcement zones, which work as blocks and provide regions for posting announcements on a site, letting the user control which zone(s) a given notice should appear in.

Please let me know if you are open to me using the project namespace for this or if you have any other questions.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

    Hi Rich,

    Your idea sounds interesting.

I wouldnβ€˜t mind if you take over the Announcement project namespace for future versions of the Announcement module.

    Best regards,
    Gerhard

    Gerhard,

Thanks for the support. Happy to have you involved if you want to be part of the build. I have started a draft of the module locally, but would like to get it added to a repository before too too much more work.

Would you be able to add me as a maintainer for the project?

    Thanks,

    Rich

    Rich,

you're welcome. Thanks, but I have stopped working on Drupal projects.

Would you be able to add me as a maintainer for the project?

I would, but I have not the permission to add you as a maintainer. You should contact/ask Nancy to do this. She is the project owner. Or if she doesn't reply move the issue to the Drupal.org project ownership issue queue.

I have added you. Please make sure you tell people that yours is a replacement, not an upgrade. Yours will likely be better anyway. Good Luck.

    @NancyDru,

Thanks for the response. I am excited to move forward with the project.

I'll definitely update the homepage with more info once the project is further along. I'd be open to implementing an upgrade path for the Drupal 7 version to the new one, but I think that will depend on how the functionality works out.
