Form Mode Manager does not support Group content create links

Problem/Motivation

The group module allows to create group content using a link similar to:
/group/17/content/create/group_node%3Aarticle

When creating a view mode using Form Mode Manager for the Article content type (e.g. 'simple'), this group content greate functionality should support a link similar to:

/group/17/content/create/group_node%3Aarticle/simple

However, that leads to Page Not Found.
