Creating a magazine

We used biblio module in order to create magazines. While biblio were nodes we used contextual filters such as Volume and Secondary title, which were found on another content type (volume) in two fields. Volume as integer and Secondary title as taxonomy term. We are migrating the site to Drupal 9 and using the Bibliography & Citation module. We have a content named biblio with an entity reference field to a Bibcite reference. When building a view with contextual filters we filter it by this content type (biblio) and we use the Bibcite reference as a relationship. Then we set Volume and Secondary Title as contextual filters but the latter doesn't work, when viewing the block(s) on a content type volume.

My question is what are we doing wrong and how can we create a view (block) placed in a node, which doesn't content a Bibcite reference, but the Volume number and the Secondary Title as field values, which may vary in order to show only the references associated with them? Volume and Secondary Title are populated in the Bibcite reference.
