Seems to work for some content types but not others

All content types are using the same "Editorial workflow" that includes draft->published->archived states. Changing the state of individual content pieces form their edit pages appears to work correctly. However, using this module to try to bulk archive or bulk publish current draft works only for some content types, not others, and does not return an error that some were unsuccessful (so the editor does not know some were not archived/removed).

Any idea what might be causing this? At the very least can we get an error that some nodes could not be successfully unpublished?
