I can confirm the issue with the latest 8.x-1.0-dev. Don't know how to resolve it, I'm afraid.
Attempting to add a remote image url field to my commerce product so that I can have multiple images in the same field. This results in an error even when the "Alt field required" is unchecked.
Add a remote image url field
set the field values to unlimited
UNcheck "Alt field required"
Attempt to save settings
error message appears "1 error has been found "Alt text"
