Even though the date_facet_drilldown module is designed to work with facets pretty paths URL processor, it would be nice if it also worked with the default facets query string URL processor.

Good idea, I have included this code in version 8.x-3.x-dev and can confirm that from this version onwards date_facet_drilldown will support pretty paths and query strings.
