The directory "vendor/synfony/config" is still required after uninstalling the module Automatic Updates via composer.
(In my case, this directory is created during the installation of the module and deleted again when it is uninstalled.)
After clearing the cache, the following error messages:

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
8.x-2.x is no longer supported. symfony/config is one of our dev dependencies in 3.0.x, but that shouldn't affect what gets installed for you as a consumer of this module. We also never got any update on what composer why had to say, and it's been over a year since this issue was updated, so I'm closing this one as "cannot reproduce".
