This has been updated, and the current methodology is through config (as well as an "allow all" option).
There is currently a list of hardcoded field types from which to search for content. This includes a custom, compound field type that is only in use in the UI codebase.
Check schemas of field types for all fields, and create a list that way?
Create a config form to allow selection/addition of fields?
